Just looking out of the window this morning looking at the snow falling heavily and settling on the ground and i got to thinking. A few weeks ago i visited a remote woodland lodge with private outdoor hottub. What a fantastic relaxing weekend we had. Just imagine ytou and your hens sat in the hot tub with a glass of bubbly whilst the snow falls heavily around you. If you are the kind of person who does prefer the idea of a more sedate weekend this may sound appealing to you. I dont think i have ever been on a winter hen party. Probably due to the fact that most people get married in the summer and therefor this is the time when most hen parties take place. So now i get to thinking about other winter hen parties. Burns night in Scotland, halloween in Pendle, skiing in Aviemore. Or for those of you with a bigger budget skiing in the Alps. Think of all the apres ski! The more adventurous could even try snowboarding. I would have to advise a hen party like this take place at least 3 months before the wedding. (bridal party and broken bones come to mind) So does anybody out there have any more ideas for winter hen parties. I would love to hear them.

These days hen parties seem to have evolved from a night on the town with maybe a stripper thrown in for good measure to weekends, or even a week of adrenaline filled activities, or at the least some unique experience that nobody is likely to do at any other time of the year. Personally I think this is great, the stags have been living it large for far too long and I think it is about time we came to expect the same or even better for our hen night. To be fair it did seem to be the stags that cottoned on to the opportunity of cramming as many activities into their last night/weekend of freedom as possible before us hens. Probably because the hens were too busy planning the wedding. All the stag usually has to worry about is turning up at the church and organising his stag do. The latter usually taking preference.

But hey girls if you cant beat them join them!! Lap dancing lessons, cheer leading classes, wine tasting, papmper days, recording studios, chocolate making, yacht chartering, burlesque dancing down to the absolute craziness of blindfold driving and deep sea fishing (WHY!) The most unique hen party I have ever been involved in has involved white water rafting, but hey i live in hope that i may one day get the chance to strut my stuff on that pole, or learn how to belly dance like a bolywood star. I must just rememver to leave my dignity in a carrier bag at the door!!

It is always hard when planning a hen party. Most of us want a bit of everything. A pamper, a chance to reminisce with old friends and a wild night out never to be forgotten (or remembered, depending on the number of tequilas).

It is possible to have all these things if you plan carefully. One of the bets hen parties i have been on lately we booked a largest cottage near Blackpool. We all arrived on the Friday afternoon and cracked open the fizz straight away. A mobile beautician came to massage, tan, tint, wax, manicure, pedicure and generally just pamper. This was fab! all lounging around chatting and playing games. I will put some of these games on another post but one of them where everyone had to tell the funniest, most outrageous story about the hen. Lots of deep, dark secrets spilled here!!

We cooked spag bol for 10 (i have never seen so much spaghetti in all my life) then headed into Blackpool in a cab. Blackpool is a great place for hen party and we had an amazing night. The best bit was going back to the cottage for tea and toast before crashing out in the comfiest bed. The morning was full breakfast time.

We had arranged some outdoor activities with something to suit everyone. Even the older hens joined in and did some clay pigeon shooting. That evening we headed to a restaurant before hitting the clubs again, Hare of the dog and all that! Just thought it was worth a mention because i had never been on a hen party where we stayed in a cottage before and it really was great fun.
